2016 Breakfast of Champions

CHAMP would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to all of our sponsors and to ALL those in attendance of the 2016 Breakfast of Champions at the Ft. Collins Marriott, WOW what a turn out!  A special note of appreciation to our dynamic and entertaining key note speaker, Rod Oleson, as well as our seven incredible Heart of a Champion Senior Scholarship Award recipients for making the morning extra special.

The Keli McGregor Service Award winner was given to Evelyn (Evie) Hoeven Arterburn who during her lifetime served as a leader not only in the tennis community, but the Northern Colorado community as a whole. Her energy, passion, robust personality, and vocal nature has enabled her to teach, coach, organize and lead in meaningful ways. The Sonny Lubick Coach of Character Award was given to Laura (Hoeven) Ecton a Poudre High School Graduate and a shining product of the Poudre School District. Laura played tennis through high school, and continued her tennis career at Colorado College where she discovered another passion, mathematics. Following Laura’s graduation from Colorado College, she went on to earn a graduate degree from the University of Colorado.

It was an amazing morning and we are looking forward to 2017, when we will celebrate our 10th anniversary!

2014 Breakfast of Champions!

CHAMP would like to send out a humble THANK YOU to all of our sponsors and to ALL those in attendance!  And a special note of Thanks to Lori McGregor and Sonny Lubick for being such amazing stewards of your award namesakes!marco at StLouis

It was a wonderful morning, honoring all of the award winners, and listening to empowering speakers Marco Gonzales (Pitcher with the St Louis Cardinals) and Andy McKay (Peak Performance Coordinator for the Colorado Rockies).  Marco shocked us all with his humility and simplistic child’s view of what sports meant to his success.

Andy McKayAndy gave us an amazing lesson in what competition truly means, and how an athlete can incorporate all of the “intangibles” into their competitive success, not only in sports…but for the rest of their life.  Thank You to everyone… it was an incredible morning.

7 v 7 Football Tournament in June 2013

In conjunction with Rocky Mountain High School and GoJo Sports, CHAMP co-sponsored the 2013 Rocky Mountain Shootout on June 21st.  This was a one-day football passing tournament consisting of 10 high schools from across the front range (Fort Collins, Fossil Ridge, Poudre, Rocky Mountain, Longmont, Skyline, Columbine, Fairview, Ponderosa, and Sand Creek).  CHAMP supplied the officials, GoJo’s provided shirts for all participants, and the theme of the tournament was “Compete with Character”.  Pastor, CSU team chaplain, and former CSU and NFL football player Johnny Square spoke about the importance of competing with character.  His message focused on the concept that your character is defined by not only what you do, but who you are.  The message seemed to resonate with the players and coaches based on the high level of sportsmanship that was demonstrated throughout the day.  Fairview won the championship, but everyone walked away winners after a day of honing their skills and developing their character.  Thank you all for all of your time and dedication,  Matt Phillips

Parent Summit in April 2013

We had such a great time with Gary Avischious, founder of CoachingSchool!  He met with 50 youth sport coaches for lunch at CB&Potts, and showed us down and dirty facts that we can’t ignore with regards to how we can coach kids… to bring out the best in them, pushing them to their best, while keeping them in sports.

And, although the weather tried to put a damper on us, Gary gave an incredible message that night to our Parent-only Summit.  Gary showed us, as parents, how to connect with our kids and understand where they stand in their own lives, all without becoming “that parent”.  We were honored to also have guest speaker and CSU Softball Coach, Jen Fisher!   Thank you so much to Gary Avischious, who weathered the snow storm to bring us such great messages to our coaches and parents!!  And Thank you to our Parent Summit coordination team:  Ft Collins Youth Recreation, Ft Collins Baseball Club, Ft Collins Soccer Club, and CHAMP!  Also a huge Thank You to our sponsors:  The Bohemian Foundation, CB&Potts, the Senior Center, and our Coordination Team!  Stay tuned for the next Parent Summit!
